On The Wings of Love - Top Pinoy Soap in 2015 (Full Episodes)

This teleserye is really a breakthrough of the entire year and a refreshing one, perhaps due to the many interesting perspectives earned by directors Jojo Saguin and the emerging Antoinette Jadaone.

Jadaone took with this soap fresh from her success in the film That Thing Called Tadhana, and her directorial gloss is obviously observed in this transnational romance featuring the characters of Reid and Lustre, the lovers Clark and Leah. Yes, On The Wings of Love is yet another American dream drama, and its own story certainly revolved round the challenges and dreams of the diasporic Filipino. Check the plot of this series:

Leah (Nadine Lustre) is a young woman who wants nothing but to go to America so she can help her family. While Clark (James Reid) is a young man living in America who wants to give his siblings in the Philippines a good life after their mother died. As Leah begins to live her American dream, she faces a big problem when she realizes that her visa is about to expire. To remain living in the US, Leah makes an agreement to marry Clark, who is an American citizen, in exchange of money that he greatly needs.

It's been showing different facets of the collective desire to have mobility, as it in addition has been dramatizing the interesting archipelagic variousness of Filipino culture, fundamentally shaped by this neocolonial dream. We hear Nanette Inventor’s signature Kapampangan on the main one hand, and suddenly, we have been transported by the complete gang to Ilocos Norte, which allows us to hear the Ilocano lilt and verve, as Leah retraces the roots of her mother, who abandoned her family a long time ago.

Notable as well was its inclusion of spoken word poetry, thanks to Juan Miguel Severo, whose words add more nuance to the “hugot” and “kilig” of the teleserye, rendering it not merely fun but intelligent.
